BIG NEWS

SO MUCH NEWS!!!  Uncertain where to start, so I will just be sure not to bury the lead.

While in Cancun on our babymoon, Liz found the perfect time (at sunset) on the beach to make a proposal for us to commit to spending the rest of our lives together.  After my crying outburst (because I was sooo surprised and overwhelmed with emotion), I heard her say, "So, is that a YES?"  I said, "YES!  It's definitely a YES!"  We were both so excited, and then she opened up the ring box and put this gorgeous ring on my finger.  It was such a perfect start to our brief vacation, and even though we have been together now for more than 6 years, this was one of the most wonderfully romantic surprises ever!  So, we are thinking that sometime in the summer of 2016 would be perfect timing.  Hopefully by that time our little guy will be walking, and maybe he can be (with some assistance) our ring bearer :)

As for the rest of our time in Cancun, we just kept saying how it was one of the best decisions we ever made to book this trip.  It was relaxing, the weather was beautiful everyday, and we had a beachfront room.  Leaving the sliding glass door open each night while we went to sleep allowed us to be lulled into dreamland by the sound of the ocean waves lapping on the sand just a few hundred feet away.  That was some of the best sleep we've both had in months... and we know that we're going to need it soon!  I wish we could bring those ocean waves here once our little guy is born.

In other news, we have finally reached Spring here in New York!  It was 60 degrees today, and the city felt absolutely glorious (with the exception of all of the dirt-covered melting snow piles strewn with garbage).  We are happy to kick winter to the curb and let the blooming and blossoming begin!

The upswing to warmer weather will also be a HUGE help to maintaining our Marty Road house upstate.  Although we never published the post that I originally wrote when it happened, we had a bit of a flood due to the freezing weather bursting the water filtration system installed under our kitchen sink.  It was quite a spectacle, and we ended up with a disaster clean-up crew at our house installing about 15 industrial fans and other odd-looking equipment to soak up all of the water and prevent damage to the floors.  After running all of that equipment for 5 days straight (24 hours a day), we returned to the house, signed off on the completion of the clean-up, and had an insurance adjuster come to visit.  All is being taken care of... but we will be happy to see winter go for lots of reasons!

And last, but definitely not least, we are now officially 31 weeks pregnant.  I'm in such awe of this process, and I just can't stop being amazed every time he moves around in my belly.  He's a big guy already, and it's hard to imagine that he's going to gain about 5 more pounds before he's born.  I will probably be the size of a MACK truck before he gets here, but as long as we're all healthy once he makes his entrance, it's totally worth it!

We can't wait to meet him and to share him with all of you, but for now, this picture will have to do...

Sending you all our love <3 <3 <3

Cristina, Liz, and Zellbot

Where have we been??

This photo was taken Feburary 12th. One month ago! At week 26.
So much has happened in the past month... both Cristina and I have felt overwhelmed with trying to write a blog post.

We went to Mexico for a very quick babymoon. We are so happy we did. I used my amex points and we stayed in cancun for 5 days. This winter has been BRUTAL. We had one snow storm after another and record low temps. Quite miserable. I'm going to leave it up to Cristina to fill in about the trip and our big news. (She has the photos from Mexico. She is our family photographer.)

We started hypnobirthing classes in February. If you don't know hypnobirthing ... It's a pretty calm and soothing meditation style of breathing and visualization. It's practiced by loads of women hoping to have a natural childbirth and seems to be very helpful with anxiety around giving birth. Our classes are taught by a woman named Amethyst (not making that up).

I get to be the birth coach for our son. What? Me? Yeah me! Ideally Cristina and Zellbot (our nickname for the unnamed boychick) and I will work together to get him to come on down and meet the world. I know lots of people out there use doula's for this job... But I'm totally up for it! Of course we will have a obgyn and it will take place in a hospital.

Anyway we have a lot of practicing to do....
And getting nursery ready... And the demands of work... And our new house with frozen pipe issues....and well all of the other life stuff. I don't know how single parents do it at all and we don't even have a baby yet! We are so lucky to have each other.

Look at her at 30 weeks. Isn't she gorgeous?!?
